HOBBIES AND A PASSION FOR COAL
"She first created sculptural organs from coal and salt, adorning them with precious metals and diamonds."
INTERVIEW by Damir Avertone
I have known you since 2007, when you were one of the first artists to create coal jewelry and coal art objects. Now I see your new artworks — human organs made of coal, rock salt, and amber, adorned with silver crowns set with black diamonds. Tell me — why organs?
I have long been a staunch supporter of naturalism. For me, the best designer is nature itself. I am fascinated by the evolutionary creation of the human being — the creation of the Universe or God, no matter what one chooses to call it.
After all, humans have both a right and a left hemisphere, and they are constantly being studied to discover where creativity and intuition reside. I admire this organ, where ideas are born, and then I try to transform them into finished works — jewelry or art objects. And the heart, in my opinion, is the place where our soul lives, where our feelings are encoded.
Most often, these offers come from collectors or managers of foreign galleries.
However, if a work is selected for and presented at an international exhibition, its value can increase significantly.
Basically, they ask me to create a sketch for them or offer me an idea, and then I develop a design based on what they need for a particular occasion. After that, we discuss the cost.
I have no competitors. But I have plenty of ideas for new images.
